Tips for protecting yourself from coronavirus provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There is not a treatment for Covid-19 at the time of this writing, the most effective way to protect yourself, and your family, is to take as many steps as you can to avoid contact with the virus. We have compiled a list of recommendations provided by the CDC on preventing exposure to coronavirus.

Knowing how Covid-19 spreads is half the battle.

Coronavirus is not always spread by people who are symptomatic, so no matter how healthy you think you may be, for the sake of everyone around you it is best to take precautionary measures.

Information available about Covid-19 is limited, and nobody has all of the answers but Covid-19 is thought to spread most commonly between people who are in close contact with others. Respiratory droplets are produced whenever a person talks, coughs, or sneezes so exercising a safe distance from people who have not been tested or that you are unsure about, is paramount.

Focus on what is in your control.

Not knowing if someone has been exposed or not can be an overwhelming thought, so we recommend focusing on things you can control. Firstly, wash your hands often, especially when out in public places like grocery stores. The virus can live on surfaces anywhere from a few hours to a few days. If soap and water is not readily available hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content is the next best thing, but should not be your first choice.

It is also advisable not to touch your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth. These areas are incubators for the virus, and if you are out in public, it is in your best interest to avoid contact with those areas.

Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth face mask, or other covering when out in public. The CDC recommends 7-layers of fabric, but something is better than nothing, so keep yourself covered. This will also be a solid reminder to not touch your face when out in public. This is meant to protect the spread of the virus in case you have it and are unaware.

This should be common sense, but cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Use your elbow so you are not exposing yourself in the event that your have touched an infected surface.

Clean and disinfect regularly touched surfaces. If you want your home deep cleaned by experts who comply with the highest standards of disease prevention, give us a call today, and we will professionally disinfect any and all surfaces of your home with commercial grade disinfectants.
